Now, fans can play as the Dragonborn again, in all of his next-gen glory, with Skyrim Anniversary Edition.

When is the Skyrim Anniversary Edition release date?

True to its name, Skyrim Anniversary Edition will release on November 11, 2021. This is exactly ten years to the day since one of the most content-rich open-world action-adventure games was ever released.

What’s included in the Skyrim Anniversary edition?

The Skyrim Anniversary Edition will come with the Special Edition of Skyrim, a remastered version of the game which was released back in 2016. In addition to this, the Skyrim Anniversary Edition will also include the Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn expansions, along with more than 500 pieces of high-quality content coming straight from the Creation Club. The last bit is especially noteworthy as it adds a bunch of new stuff to Skyrim that even hardcore fans will want to explore. Bethesda is also adding fishing to Skyrim for the first time. Yes. We’re not joking. You can now actually catch fish in Skyrim the good old-fashioned way instead of just shooting at fish with arrows or hacking at them with your knife, spear, or whatever your weapon of choice is. If for some reason, you haven’t had a chance to check out Skyrim over the past decade, the Skyrim Anniversary Edition is the best way to do it.

Is Skyrim Anniversary Edition a free upgrade?

No. Skyrim Anniversary Edition is not a free upgrade for existing Skyrim copies, but it is an upgrade for the Special Edition. Bethesda also confirmed that it’s going to release a free next-gen upgrade on November 11. However, it is unknown at what resolutions and frame rates the next-gen upgrade will run at. If we were to hazard a guess, the next-gen upgrade of Skyrim should run at 4K resolution and/or 120 frames per second on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. With Skyrim Anniversary Edition still a few months away, you can keep yourself busy playing Skyrim on whatever console or platform you have. The game is pretty much available on everything, including your phone via xCloud. Speaking of games that are ways away, Bethesda’s follow-up to Skyrim isn’t going to be around anytime soon. According to an earlier report, The Elder Scrolls VI is still in its design phase. By the time it will release, we wouldn’t be surprised if Bethesda had already ported Skyrim to yet another platform.
