Daniel Radcliffe has had quite a career after playing the boy wizard, Harry Potter, from 2001 until 2011. Since then, Radcliffe has starred in several other blockbuster films, most notably 2016’s Now You See Me 2 and Imperium. He’s also been a part of the TBS anthology series, Miracle Workers, since 2019. Now, after you see him in The Lost City with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, Radcliffe will portray Weird Al Yankovic in a film. Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history. The five-time Grammy winner made a name for himself for doing parodies and pastiches of other musical artists. Yankovic made history in 2014 after his comedy album, Mandatory Fun, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200, which is the first comedy album to do so. According to the details released so far, the Yankovic biopic will explore every aspect of the musician’s life. The film will include all the nitty and gritty from his childhood up to his latest exploits, putting the spotlight on his sultry love affairs and perverted lifestyle. Yankovic himself has signed on to produce and write alongside Eric Appel, as filming is set to start sometime in early February in Los Angeles. Radcliffe is no stranger to weird and unconventional roles and has portrayed everything from a sentient corpse in 2016’s Swiss Army Man to a man with guns stapled to his hands in 2020’s Guns Akimbo. However, WEIRD is Radcliffe’s first conventional biopic. If it’s any consolation, Yankovic’s life is anything but normal, which should fit right on with Radcliffe’s penchant for landing and nailing non-traditional roles in comedy films. Having said that, we’re curious to find out more about WEIRD and how Radcliffe will handle himself as the eccentric musician. In other Harry Potter news, Hogwarts Legacy is still on track to release this 2022. In addition to Warner Bros Brazil, the franchise’s official website, Wizarding World, also confirmed that the open-world RPG based in the Harry Potter universe will be released this year. The latest word on the grapevine suggests that the next State of Play event by Sony will feature more footage from Hogwarts Legacy.
