Ubisoft unveiled the name for the upcoming co-op shooter that has been in development for quite some time on Monday, June 7. The studio also revealed that Rainbow Six Extraction will get its first gameplay reveal on June 12 at 8:00 PM (UK Time) as part of the Ubisoft Forward event.
From Rainbow Six Quarantine to Rainbow Six Extraction
Over the years, Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six franchise has gone through several installments. The latest of which will be named Rainbow Six Extraction. The next title in the popular tactical shooter series was formerly known as Rainbow Six Quarantine and briefly went under the name Rainbow Six Parasite. The gameplay is based on Rainbow Six Siege’s limited-time Outbreak event but with its standalone story and expanded features. However, before the name change and reveal, Ubisoft hasn’t talked much about the next Rainbow Six game. Then, out of the blue, Ubisoft dropped a trailer that showcased what fans can expect from Rainbow Six Extraction. According to the trailer, Rainbow Six Extraction will revolve around a sinister parasite that has taken over a science lab. However, unlike conventional Rainbow Six titles, especially Rainbow Six Siege, Extraction will focus more on PvE combat. In particular, the gameplay will take on the Extraction aspect of its name. The point of the shooter is to try and push deeper into the laboratory and get out with as many survivors as possible. Ubisoft first showcased Rainbow Six Quarantine at E3 2019. Many expected the game to release within the year after. Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus pandemic, Ubisoft delayed the game. Also, while Ubisoft has not confirmed the reason for the name change, it’s obvious that the decision was also largely because of the ongoing situation. With that said, we can expect to hear more about Rainbow Six Extraction soon enough. Ubisoft Forward will kick off on June 12 as part of E3 2021 and will showcase games like Rainbow Six Extraction and Watch Dogs: Legion.
