Is The Witcher 3 releasing for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X today?
According to the Pan European Game Information website, CDPR should have released next-gen versions of The Witcher 3 today. The listing clearly states that the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X is on October 19, 2021. However, the game or update is nowhere in sight. This suggests that someone must have gotten their facts wrong. CD Projekt promised earlier this year that it was going to release the next-gen versions of The Witcher 3 later this year, but with 2021 coming to an end, the update is nowhere near in sight. Feel free to go ahead and check the listing yourself on the PEGI website. As you can see, it should be available already. If it’s any consolation, the listing’s existence does suggest that CDPR at least intended to release it today and opted to delay it. The only question now is when The Witcher 3 will release for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. So far, we have very little idea about the next-gen version of The Witcher 3. All that we know is that it will take advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X’s improved hardware for faster loading times and better graphics, including ray-tracing capabilities. CDPR also confirmed that it’s working with the game’s modding community to include popular PC mods, although which mod exactly will be added to the next-gen update of the 2015 title remains unconfirmed until now. The good news here is that the next-gen update for The Witcher 3 is free for anyone who already owns the game on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC. As for when the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 will launch, only CDPR knows. If it’s any consolation, we do know when the next season of Netflix’s The Witcher is going to arrive. All eight episodes of The Witcher Season 2 are set to drop on Netflix on December 17, 2021.
