Unfortunately, Daedelic Entertainment’s upcoming title has players feeling less like a badass like Tallion and more like a feeble greedy hobbit in Gollum. As per the game’s official Twitter account, Daedelic hopes to roll out The Lord of the Rings: Gollum on September 1 on the PC and consoles with the Nintendo Switch port coming in later. With Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest scheduled for June 9, we’re hoping to hear more about the upcoming stealth-adventure game by then.

Tolkien for a good reason - who would want to play as Gollum? Having said that, we’re not discounting the possibility that Daedelic’s first big AAA title in a while (if not ever) might be good. It might be interesting to literally play as someone who can barely defend themselves. Not to mention, Daedelic has confirmed that a few familiar faces from the original novels will appear in the game. Between that as well as the internal struggle between Gollum and his original hobbit alter-ego, Sméagol, Daedelic might have something special. Either way, we’ll find out more about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum soon enough.
