With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson set to take on the role of Black Adam in an upcoming DCEU feature film, it’s safe to say that the super hero’s underrated days are going to be over pretty soon.
Black Adam is shaping up to be the biggest DCEU film yet
The Black Adam movie will feature the titular antihero, who will be portrayed by Johnson. The film will reportedly revolve around the story of how Black Adam came to power. For those that don’t know, Black Adam is a former Kahndaq slave who rose to infamy after receiving his superpowers from Shazam. However, he was later imprisoned for 5,000 years for abusing the powers. He is most famous for being the archenemy of the superhero Shazam, who is also set to star in his movie sequel. While it wasn’t until this April that filming of the Black Adam began, the seeds have reportedly been planted for years if not decades. However, it wasn’t until Johnson expressed his interest to play Black Adam back in 2007 that talks really started gaining traction. In 2014, Johnson was formally confirmed to take on the role of Black Adam in a film. Fast forward to today and the film is almost finished with its filming, with Johnson being joined by a star-studded cast that includes the likes of Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, among others. With the Black Adam almost finished with its shooting, the Rock has been spending his time on social media, specifically Instagram, posting new photos. Among the ones that got fans excited the most is a tease of Black Adam’s suit. Johnson describes it as “not your typical DC or Marvel padded muscle suit.” Of course, such production quality was to be expected. Johnson is known for his attention to detail. He probably doesn’t want to settle for anything less than an authentic version of Black Adam. Even the cameras used to shoot the film are cutting edge. Although a lot of CGI will be used in the upcoming film, the set photo hints at just how massive the film is going to be with practical effects alone. With Johnson physically capable of passing as a real-life version of Black Adam, it seems like all is going well for the upcoming movie. With DC FanDome confirmed to return later this 2021 and filming set to finish soon, we can expect Johnson to release even more teases of Black Adam. Hopefully, a more extensive trailer is on the cards in the next couple of months.
