Can anyone play the leaked build of Forbidden West?
The video game industry is no stranger to leaks. Most gaming leaks often revolve around story details and other important information about games that studios choose not to reveal. Unfortunately, the case with Guerilla Games’ upcoming sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn is quite rare. It’s not just the plot of the game that has leaked online - it’s a nearly complete and fully playable version of the game. According to VGC, there are PS4 screenshots taken from Forbidden West that have leaked online. VGC adds that they is from a playable build of the game that’s almost complete. Meanwhile, theDualSense claims that the leaker accessed the full build of the game using a jailbroken PS4.
— Dualsense Floppa (@theDualSense) January 10, 2022 It remains unclear just how many people have gotten their hands on the leaked build of Forbidden West. However, because it is nearly complete, we suggest keeping an eye out for potential spoilers online. If it’s any consolation, those that got a chance to take a look at the screenshots confirm that Forbidden West looks just as good on the PS4. Even if Sony did release photos of Forbidden West running on the PS4, it’s nice to know that the game hasn’t suffered from being a cross-gen title. Before you go ahead and look for the full build, we must warn you that it’s not currently available on any file-sharing website, and that of course you should wait for, and pay for, the full version! If it does appear on torrent sites, we think Sony would move quickly to get it taken down. Of course, this won’t stop anyone from posting sensitive information online ahead of Forbidden West’s release in February. Having said that, if you do get your hands on the early build of Forbidden West, we suggest that you keep it to yourself. Guerilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West is arguably the biggest PS5 game to date; it’s an early contender for GOTY 2022 alongside God of War: Ragnarok. Only time will tell if Sony can find a way to contain the potential damage and prevent the near-full build from spreading even further online. In other news, recent leaks suggest that Sony is planning to hold a State of Play event in February. According to Tom Henderson, Sony might use the upcoming showcase to highlight two exclusives that are scheduled to be released in February: Sifu and Horizon Forbidden West. Furthermore, Henderson suggests that the February State of Play could feature Hogwarts Legacy.
