The Division 2 is no different. After launching in early February 2019, The Division 2 has since gone on to evolve and become a much better game. The release of the Warlords of New York expansion, in particular, solidified its status as a premier title. Many cite it as the biggest turning point for the online looter-shooter title. However, a little over a year after the expansion’s release, it seems that Ubisoft is not in a hurry to release a follow-up for their looter-shooter.
Ubisoft Preparing for a Massive Late 2021 Update
After introducing new locales, fixing the numerous bugs and issues that plagued the game early on in its lifecycle, and improving the progression system, Ubisoft wants to take its sweet time before releasing the highly anticipated follow-up to the Warlords of New York expansion. According to their latest blog post, the new “major update” will include a new progression system and a new mode. They are reportedly focusing on improving build variety in this supposed update. However, they went on to confirm that it is still in its early stages. Thus, they’re preparing for the update to arrive in late 2021. In the meantime, Ubisoft is giving late-comers a chance to grab rewards from earlier The Division 2 seasons.
What’s Next for The Division 2?
As for what players can expect from the next update, Ubisoft has yet to confirm anything outside of saying that it will deviate from the game’s current gameplay. So far, we’ve seen the Manning National Zoo, Coney Island, and Pentagon, make their way to the game. Then, with the Warlords of New York, Ubisoft upped the ante with a massively successful PvE content addition. Known as The Summit, the skyscraper, which players could climb up to its 100th floor, offered infinite levels of fun for players as they fought bosses every tenth floor with the difficulty rising each level they climb up. Considering how successful that was, it’s only natural for Ubisoft to not want to disappoint fans again. So far, Ubisoft has done the game right as far as their updates go. All their new content has helped add replay value and content to The Division 2. Because of this, it’s safe to say that they deserve the benefit of the doubt and not worry too much about what’s to come. For now, we recommend players gear up and find collectibles from past seasons to prepare themselves for the upcoming update.
