After Diablo II: Resurrected was first announced at BlizzConline, fans have been eagerly waiting for Blizzard to confirm when it’s going to drop. Nearly half a year later at E3 2021 and Blizzard finally has a release date for the remake by Vicarious Visions.
When Is The Diablo 2 Resurrected Release Date?
The release of Diablo 2: Resurrected was confirmed at E3 2021 as part of the Xbox-Bethesda showcase. Blizzard announced that the remake will see a simultaneous release on several platforms on September 23 later this year. This includes the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and the PC. As we clarified earlier, Diablo II: Resurrected is a remake and not a remaster of the original Diablo 2 game. This means that while it will contain the same content, including the base game of Diablo II and its Lord of Destruction expansion, Vicarious Visions have added numerous quality of life improvements to give the remake of the 2000 title a more modern touch. Among the numerous changes made to Diablo 2: Resurrected over the original is that players can now opt to walk over gold to collect it instead of manually having to click it. Diablo 2: Resurrected will also let players make use of an account-level stash. This way, players no longer need to create placeholder characters built specifically just to house all that extra gold and gear. Speaking of gear, you can snag yourself some extra goodies by buying the right edition of Diablo II Resurrected. The standard core game is available for $39.99. However, for $20 more at $59.99, you can get the Diablo Prime Evil Collection. This includes the entirety of Diablo II: Resurrected, as well as all of Diablo III with both the Reaper of Souls and Necromance DLC. Additional contents included in the Collection are a Mephisto pet and Handred’s Grasp wings that you can use in Diablo III. If for some reason, you’ve missed out on two of the best dungeon-crawlers ever released, the Diablo Prime Evil Collection is a good chance to catch up with what you’ve been missed.
Is there a Diablo 2 Resurrected Beta?
Ever since the Technical Alpha last April, fans have been asking if Blizzard is going to hold more beta tests for Diablo 2: Resurrected. At E3 2021, Blizzard confirmed that it is indeed going to hold a beta test before Diablo 2 Resurrected launches in September. Unlike the previous beta test, the upcoming testing phase will be an open beta that anyone can participate in. All players have to do to gain early access is to preorder the game. However, Blizzard hasn’t confirmed when the open beta will begin exactly, and if there are other ways to get in. Even so, the release of Diablo II: Resurrected will give gamers enough content to sink their teeth into for a while. This should give Blizzard enough time to work on the next installment in the venerated Diablo franchise, Diablo IV.
