This is exactly how Gamescom 2022 host, Geoff Keighley, described the all-new PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge controller. Years after the launch of the impressive DualSense, Sony has finally decided to give in and give hardcore gamers exactly what they’ve wanted. The DualSense Edge is a more feature-filled version of the DualSense and its predecessor, the DualShock 4. The DualSense Edge will feature “custom control profiles, customized to your playstyle,” which Sony took the time to explain further in an official blog post. The DualSense Edge will let players remap button inputs and deadzones. Consumers can save multiple profiles using the DualSense Edge. The best part is that Sony will let consumers replace the stick modules on the DualSense Edge. This should help with the ongoing drift issues raised soon after the DualSense hit store shelves. In addition to the stick modules, the DualSense Edge will also have swappable stick caps and rear buttons as well as a jet black touch pad. Unfortunately, Sony did not announce a release date or a price tag for the DualSense Edge. However, with Xbox selling the Elite Series 2 for $179, the DualSense Edge should cost just as much. A PS5 Pro controller was certainly not what anyone expected at Gamescom 2022 as Sony had already ducked out of the event. But, we can’t exactly say that this was a total surprise. We’ve had a couple of rumors from trusted sources claiming that Sony will reveal a PS5 Pro controller this year as early as June. Now, all that’s left is the wait for a “matching” console after TCL hypothesized that a PS5 Pro and a new Xbox Series X will come out in the next two years.
