With that said, Reynolds has now confirmed that he is taking a “little sabbatical from movie-making.”
How long is Reynolds’ break going to last?
Reynolds took to Instagram to thank his Spirited co-stars, Octavia Spencer and Will Ferrell, and the rest of the crew members as he announced that now is the perfect time to take a break. The Deadpool star did not clarify how long his break will last. We’re guessing it won’t be for more than a few months as Reynolds has a jam-packed filming schedule ahead of him, which will include Deadpool 3, among other things. Spirited is an upcoming Apple TV+ film that serves as a musical retelling of A Christmas Carol. The musical stars Reynolds as Ebeneezer Scrooge with Will Ferell playing The Ghost of Christmas Present. Reynolds’ longtime wife, Blake Lively, could not help but poke fun at his husband’s temporary retirement. The Gossip Girl actress joked that Michael Caine did the whole break things first, which is a reference to Caine’s supposed retirement from acting a few days ago that the legendary actor’s representatives later denied. As we’ve already mentioned, Reynolds has a tight schedule ahead of him. In addition to Deadpool 3, which is scheduled to start filming in 2022, Reynolds has been attached to other films like the Clue remake and Everyday Parenting Tips. Meanwhile, Free Guy is also getting a sequel in the next few years, so taking a few months off now could give Reynolds all the time that he needs to recharge for the next year or two. Speaking of Deadpool, Marvel has long confirmed that the merc with a mouth will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase Four. Unfortunately, it appears that this isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Marvel just delayed its next set of MCU films for 2022 by several months.
