According to Reynolds, Deadpool 3 is official and it will finally see Jackman return as James “Logan” Howlett, who is better known among fans as Wolverine.
— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) September 27, 2022 In a video posted initially to his Twitter page, the incoming MCU actor revealed that he will bring another fan-favorite actor along with him for the ride. Reynolds spends the first 45 seconds mumbling before asking the Logan star if he’d like to play “Wolverine one more time”. Just as Jackman walks up the stairs, the X-Men star replies with a simple “Yeah, sure Ryan.” The 81-second clip also treated us fans to the new logo for Deadpool 3. It now features the wise-cracking antihero’s emblem slashed with three claw marks. Finally, the clip confirms the release date of Deadpool 3, which will be on September 6, 2024. Reynolds was right to apologize for missing out on D23. But, at the same time, this kind of announcement is pretty on-brand with Deadpool and Reynolds, in general. Most fans would agree that we wouldn’t have it any other way. Having said that, the release date of Deadpool 3 is quite interesting. Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Thunderbolts will conclude Phase 5 on July 26, 2024. Meanwhile, Fantastic Four will open the final phase of the “Multiverse Saga” on November 8, 2024. This implies that the next Deadpool film technically isn’t part of either phase of the MCU but still would be a part of the billion-dollar cinematic universe. At the end of the day, Deadpool 3’s first “teaser” was always a matter of when and not if. It’s just exciting that we got the news this soon. With around two years left to work on Deadpool 3, Reynolds and Shawn Levy will have a lot of time to meet Feige’s expectations after claiming that he’s looking to Avengers: Infinity War for inspiration. In addition to Deadpool 3 and a much larger role in the MCU, Reynolds is expected to star in sequels to Free Guy and Red Notice over the next few years. In the meantime, Marvel fans can look forward to watching Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11. The final of Phase 4 will introduce Mutants into the MCU.
