— Quinton Flynn (@quintonflynn) January 17, 2023 The latest source to fan the undying flames burning inside the hearts of Metal Gear Solid fans is Quinton Flynn, the voice actor of Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Fans recently bugged Flynn on Twitter about the 10th anniversary of one of the most bonkers spin-offs in gaming history, Metal Gear Rising. Another one then asked him if Metal Gear Rising 2 is in development. Flynn didn’t confirm anything in his reply, but he did hint that something is coming, saying “stay tuned for things to be disclosed in the coming weeks.” The rumors of a new Metal Gear Solid game have come and gone in the years since Hideo Kojima left Konami. However, the past few weeks have arguably been the most convincing yet, at least, in terms of evidence. Konami itself hinted that a Metal Gear Solid remake was coming before last year ended, which came on the heels of another trusted insider claiming to know about the existence of the same project. More importantly, the same source recently doubled down on the earlier claims, all but suggesting that Konami is finally ready to brave the waters and revisit Metal Gear after their failed attempt in 2018. If it’s any consolation, this is the same exact pattern with Konami and Silent Hill. Konami and Bloober Team dodged all the allegations that they were in cahoots for a while. Then, in October, Konami confirmed that multiple Silent Hill games are in development. Not only that, but rumors suggest that Konami is sitting on more Silent Hill projects that it hasn’t announced. It stands to reason that Konami could do the same thing with Metal Gear. This year will see several 2000s-era classic games making a comeback. FromSoftware will release a new Armored Core this year while a remake of Resident Evil 4 is only a little over two months away from coming out. Finally, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake could be out sooner rather than later. Solid Snake and the rest of Metal Gear’s eclectic cast would fit right in along with the said games on modern platforms.
