When is the Pokémon Unite release date?
Pokémon Unite will release on the Nintendo Switch first in July 2021. The mobile version will follow suit in September 2021. It’s currently unknown if Pokémon Unite will be available on other platforms in the future.
Is there a Pokémon Unite trailer available?
Nintendo has done an excellent job of generating hype for Pokémon Unite, especially as we inch closer to its July release date for the Nintendo Switch. The latest Pokémon Unite trailer was released in mid-June. It didn’t offer any gameplay footage, but instead, it was a cinematic-style trailer that showcased just how intense matches in Pokémon Unite are going to be, as well as some of the Pokémon that should be available to play as and fight against in the game.
What is Pokémon Unite?
Pokémon Unite is a MOBA-style Pokémon game. It’s a joint effort between The Pokémon Company International and TiMi Studio Group. Similar to other MOBA titles, Pokémon Unite will pit two teams composed of five players each. These two teams will battle it out on a mythical island known as the Aeos Island. The goal is to gather as much Aeos energy and points as possible to claim victory. While Pokémon Unite will be the first official MOBA Pokémon game, it will retain some classic Pokémon elements. For example, just like every other Pokémon game, Pokémon Unite will let players pick their favorite Pokémon The game will center around 5 vs 5 Unite Battle tournaments on Aeos Island, a mythical island said to be on the ocean’s unexplored frontier. Teams of Pokémon will face off and battle, competing to see which team can gather the most Aeos energy, scoring points and claiming victory for their squad. Like any Pokémon title, players will get a chance to pick their favorite Pokémon to use in battle.
How do you play Pokémon Unite?
Judging from all the gameplay footage of Pokémon Unite that we have seen so far, it looks like the gameplay will be similar to other popular MOBAs. The two teams will be composed of five players, each with their own Pokémon that has a specific strength, attack, and passive ability. The main difference in Pokémon Unite is that the goal isn’t necessarily to beat the opponent and destroy a central structure inside their base. Rather, the game revolves around who can gather the most Aeos energy first. There are two ways to gather Aeos energy in Pokémon Unite: defeating opponents into one of their goal zones or catching wild Pokémon that are scattered all around the map. Between catching Pokémon and keeping opposing teams at bay while defending your own scoring zone, Pokémon Unite is looking to be every bit as action-packed and chaotic as expected from a MOBA game. Pokémon Unite will be dividing the playable Pokémon in the game into five different classes: Attacker, Defender, Speedster, Supporter, and All-Rounder. As expected, team composition is important in Pokémon Unite. Each player and their Pokémon will start from level 1. The Pokémon will also reportedly evolve throughout the game and learn new, as well as more powerful moves. At launch, Pokémon Unite will have several playable maps available, each with its unique sizes and environmental elements. Speaking of elements, it looks like typing will not play a role in Pokémon Unite. So, don’t think just because you’re running around with a Wartortle, you can easily take on a more powerful Charizard from the opposing team.
Will Pokémon Unite have all the Pokémon available to play?
Obviously, not every Pokémon will be available to play in Pokémon Unite. There will only be a handful that will be available to play. Here is a list of all the playable Pokémon available in Pokémon Unite at launch:

Is Pokémon Unite free to play?
Yes. Pokémon Unite will be completely free-to-play.
How will microtransactions in Pokémon Unite work?
As is the case with free-to-play titles, Pokémon Unite will have microtransactions in the form of seasonable battle passes and cosmetics. Pokémon Unite will reportedly have three different types of currency available: Aeos gems, Aeos coins, and Aeos tickets. Both the tickets and coins can be earned from just playing the game. However, Aeos gems can only be purchased using real-life money. There’s no word about the exact pricing for the in-game currency in Pokémon Unite.
