After confirming when Forza Horizon 5’s first DLC expansion is coming out, the studio has revealed what it would look like - and it’s absolutely crazy. How else do you describe a race track taking place in the sky?

— Forza Horizon (@ForzaHorizon) July 16, 2022 As the kids say these days, Playground Games understood the assignment. The map for the incoming Forza Horizon 5 expansion shows a massive floating structure above the clouds, giving a different meaning to the term “open world.” It gives you a new playground to race around in with your friends, although we are still hoping that there’s some sort of crossover between the Hot Wheels expansion and the base game. If not, we’re still in awe at what the developers are giving us starting on July 19. The floating islands appear to be distinct from each other. The northern one is a lush green biome filled with forestry and foliage. Meanwhile, the southwest island is a rocky terrain full of snow and what looks like an active volcano. Finally, the southeast island is very much like the base map complete with the desert and accompanying shrubbery.

We’re excited to see how all the natural biomes and the Hot Wheels track will play out in real life. The best case scenario is that we’ll get to leave the tracks to explore each island. If not, we’re still happy seeing the natural biomes as additional background. Thankfully, July 19 is only just a few winks away. If you already own Forza Horizon 5, you will need to pursue the Hot Wheels expansion individually to gain access. It’s also included with the Forza Horizon 5 Expansions Bundle as well as the Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition. Speaking of Forza, the next Forza Motorsport game has been confirmed and it’s coming out next year for the PC as well as the Xbox Series S/X. Finally, Forza Horizon 6 is already in the works.
