Pixar has had some interesting animation concepts. One of the animation studio’s biggest hits was Inside Out, a movie about our emotions. In the movie, emotions took on human-like appearance and behavior. It looks like Pixar is going the same route with Elemental. Pixar has not yet revealed the plot of the movie. However, from the trailer, audiences are introduced to Ember and Wade. The two meet on a train when Wade picks up Ember’s headphones, which accidentally fell off. It looks to be a romantic movie based on the interaction of the two characters. Ember and Wade will be voiced by Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie respectively. Athie was in Jurassic Park Dominion, while Lewis stars in the TV show, Nancy Drew. Peter Sohn will be directing the new Pixar animated movie. Sohn has mainly worked with Pixar as a voice talent. He made his directorial debut with 2015’s The Good Dinosaur where he was also part of the team that wrote the story. According to Sohn, his experience as an immigrant from Korea was his inspiration for the movie. “My parents emigrated from Korea in the early 1970s and built a bustling grocery store in the Bronx,” Sohn said. “We were among many families who ventured to a new land with hopes and dreams – all of us mixing into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages, and beautiful little neighborhoods. That’s what led me to Elemental.” “Our story is based on the classic elements – fire, water, land, and air,” Sohn continued. “Some elements mix with each other, and some don’t. What if these elements were alive?” Elemental will be the only Pixar film slated for a release in 2023. 2022 was a particularly good year for the company as it released both Lightyear and Turning Red. Elemental opens in theaters on June 16, 2023. In the meantime, fans can check out Disney’s new animated feature film Strange World which will be showing in theaters on November 23, 2022.
