The official FIFA 22 could not have come at a better time. Today, EA unveiled FIFA 22 with an official trailer. The studio also confirmed that FIFA 22 is going to release on both last-gen and current-gen consoles on October 1, 2021. To no one’s surprise, the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of FIFA 22 will have exclusive features.

What’s new in FIFA 22?

The official FIFA 22 reveal trailer highlighted one of the key features of the upcoming soccer simulation game. HyperMotion, as EA calls it, is a next-gen exclusive technology. EA claims that it uses a combination of “Advanced 11v11 Match Capture” with machine learning that results in realistic movement and action for FIFA 22. Unfortunately, while the trailer does imply that the actual game could look as good as the video does, it still doesn’t feature any gameplay footage. Speaking of gameplay footage, it might be a while before EA releases a gameplay trailer. But, as far as graphics go, FIFA 22 will be quite the looker. Hypermotion is a technology exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, as well as the Stadia versions of FIFA 22. On top of the official FIFA 22 reveal trailer, EA also let fans know what to expect from the game. In addition to the return of familiar modes like VOLTA FOOTBALL, Pro Clubs, Career Mode, and FIFA Ultimate Team, FIFA 22 will rebuild the goalkeeper system and will come with a Create a Club system for Career Mode. FIFA 22 will also be changing the gameplay of VOLTA FOOTBALL, as well as adding FIFA Ultimate Team Heroes, which are items that represent fan favorites and other cult players. Along with the official FIFA 22 reveal trailer, EA also announced that fans can start pre-ordering the game right away. One thing to note about FIFA 22 is that the next-gen version of the game are going to cost you more. The Standard Editions for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X come with a $10 premium at $69.99. On the other hand, the Ultimate Editions for the same consoles sell for $20 more at $99.99. Just in case you missed it, EA revealed FIFA 22’s cover athlete earlier this week. Kylian Mbappé will serve as the cover player on all versions of FIFA 22. With FIFA 22 expected to release on October 1, EA should start revealing more about FIFA 22 in the next few weeks, probably around August similar to FIFA 21.
