Just days after Sony blamed inflation for the slight price increase of the PS5, Nintendo sent a statement to Eurogamer confirming its latest move. As previously mentioned by company president, Shuntaro Furukawa, all Switch variants will continue selling as is. Here’s the full statement: At 111 million units sold, it’s only a matter of time before the Switch will ellipse the PS4’s record of 117.2 million units now that its lifecycle has officially ended. With the PlayStation 5 becoming more expensive and the Xbox Series S/X expected to become unavailable as stocks struggle to keep up with the increased demand for the holiday season, the Switch is poised to take advantage. But, it remains a point of discussion whether or not a Switch Pro is in the works. While the final price to consumers is always determined by retailers, as Mr Furukawa stated, Nintendo has no plans to increase the trade price of its hardware. While the release of the Switch OLED last year should have put an end to all of the rumors, a recent industry analyst reignited the talks once again. It didn’t exactly help that the way Nintendo worded it in its latest financial statement was that a new Switch console wouldn’t be coming out this fiscal year.
