For its latest reveal, Infinity Ward took to TikTok (of all places) to come out with a new video that talks in detail about the new Modern Warfare 2 map, Farm 18, as well as what led to its creation. Apparently, it takes inspiration from the Shoothouse facility map. Specifically, the director of multiplayer map design, Geoff Smith, shared that the idea for Farm 18 was born from the question “what if we put a Shoothouse type situation in the middle?” but also give players the option if they “want to pull back and play a different way.”
— Call of Duty (@CallofDuty) August 11, 2022 According to the senior artist, Ashley Thundercliffe, Infinity Ward went to great lengths to find ways to balance the amount of foliage on the map. Ashley explained that they wanted to make sure that it was not too dense so that people would just go ahead and hide in the corners. At the same time, the team wanted to give it enough density to sell the “narrative of the overgrowth.” Only time will tell if Farm 18 will deliver or not. The good news is that we won’t have to wait for too long to find out. Modern Warfare 2 will come out on October 28 followed by Warzone 2.0 sometime before the year ends. Before this, Infinity Ward will hold an open beta for the multiplayer part on September 16. PS4 and PS5 owners who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 will get first dibs on the game. The rest of the world will have to wait until the 24th. Also, for more Modern Warfare 2 info, be sure to tune in to Call of Duty Next on September 15.
