The Dead Island sequel was originally announced in 2014 and scheduled for a 2015 release. However, Deep Silver hasn’t provided any update since then and this led many people to believe that the game had been cancelled. Now, this leak, while not official, should confirm that Dead Island 2 is indeed on the way, and is a pleasant surprise to fans of the original game, which was released by Deep Silver in 2011.

The game will have six characters for players to choose from. These characters are called Slayers and they are distinct from each other. Players can customize the characters’ abilities and choose from the different personality and dialogue options available for each. According to the leak, the game will have different types of zombies that appear and act realistically – not that we would expect anything different. The screenshots provide an insight into the game’s setting, which is still Los Angeles. According to the description, it “takes players across the most iconic location of the City of Angels, now stained with horror, in an exciting pulp journey from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach”. Many believe that this leak is accidental and the listing is in preparation for Gamescom 2022. Reliable industry insider Tom Henderson confirmed his agreement, as he tweeted that the game will be re-announced during the Gamescom Opening Night Live ceremony on August 23.

Tom Henderson was the source of some of those rumors, with fellow industry insider Colin Moriarty another source. However, this particular rumor seems more genuine and believable.
