Thankfully, Rockstar’s titles also have some of the most supportive modding communities. In place of Rockstar’s lapses, modders have stepped up to try and make the GTA Trilogy playable, especially on the PC.

Can Rockstar still redeem the GTA Trilogy?

Earlier this year, Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two, issued takedowns to various GTA mod creators and sued the creators of Nintendo Switch ports of classic GTA games. Naturally, this caused some backlash within the modding community. This is why it’s so ironic that the very same community is now responsible for salvaging GTA Trilogy after a growing amount of users demanded refunds due to the game’s unplayable state. In a Reddit post by u/Sowa_95, we can see how modders have already fixed the rainfall issues in GTA Trilogy, making it look more realistic.

The above example is just one of the many efforts that the modding community has made to make GTA Trilogy the best version possible. What’s disappointing here is that Rockstar should have tapped the same community. Modders have made significant strides over the years to make the PS2-era GTA titles look more modern. Some mods for the older GTA games look better than Rockstar’s product, prompting many gamers to criticize Rockstar’s lack of effort when it comes to remastering the classic GTA games. Unfortunately, while it’s good to hear modders working to fix GTA Trilogy, only PC players can benefit from their efforts for now. Console players will have to live with whatever kind of updates and patches Rockstar will release. If it’s any consolation, Rockstar did promise to fix GTA Trilogy. The only problem is that we don’t know exactly when this will happen. In other GTA news, Rockstar still has to confirm nor deny the recent reports that GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption remasters are coming in 2023. Meanwhile, the few gamers who are clearing through GTA Trilogy have found clues of what appears to be a tease for GTA VI.
