Lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch previously expressed confidence in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, saying that the upcoming sequel will match No Way Home. Now, with a few weeks left before Doctor Stranger 2 hits theaters, Cumberbatch’s words have become an understatement. Several reports suggest that Marvel Studios is treating the follow-up to 2016’s Doctor Strange like 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

John Campea, for example, shared details about an email suggesting that Marvel Studios will not screen this year’s first MCU film to prevent leaks. Campea also added that the Cumberbatch-led movie will have more surprises than Infinity War, Endgame, and No Way Home, combined. Multiverse of Madness was never just going to be a second solo outing for Doctor Strange. Everything that happened in No Way Home and the film’s first trailer guaranteed that the sequel will be Marvel Studios’ biggest flick in years. The revelations about the lengths that Disney and Marvel Studios have gone to hide details about the Avengers-level event only reinforce the significance of what’s sure to be another box office draw for the MCU.
