If that phrase sounds familiar to you, it’s because it’s from one of the most iconic comedians of all time, Jim Carrey. The comedy giant is known for his eccentric style of method acting and rumor has it that he’s set to bring his unique skill set to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as M.O.D.O.K.
Is Jim Carrey as M.O.D.O.K confirmed?
According to a leak found on the subreddit r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers, Jim Carrey is set to play as longtime Avengers adversary, M.O.D.O.K, in several Disney+ shows with a potential appearance in the 2023 film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which was part of the slate of Disney movies that was delayed by a couple of months. While this information remains unconfirmed, the moderators of the said subreddit claim that they’ve verified the source. The moderators themselves even posted the leak, suggesting that it is real. In addition to Jim Carrey’s potential role as M.O.D.O.K, the same post also contains valuable intel on other upcoming MCU shows and movies such as She-Hulk, Black Panther 2, and Moon Knight, among others. Casting Carrey to play M.O.D.O.K makes sense even it might not seem like so at first glance. Carrey is no stranger to playing villains, especially genius scientists. Case in point, his performance as Doctor Robotnik was considered one of the highlights of 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog. However, it will be interesting to see if Carrey’s take on the absurd villain - a giant head with small limbs - is going to take a more comedic or sinister route. Hopefully, Disney or Marvel Studios steps in to deny or confirm these rumors soon enough. Otherwise, we’ll just have to wait for Carrey’s rumored first appearance as M.O.D.O.K in She-Hulk, which will show sometime in 2022. Speaking of leaks and speculations, the aforementioned Reddit post makes a lot of claims about the upcoming MCU films and TV shows. For example, it details how Bruce Banner’s appearance in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is proof that he’s already transfused some of his blood to his cousin, Jennifer Walter, who will be played by Tatiana Maslany. Other takeaways include how Marvel’s Eternals will set up Black Panther 2 and how Mahershala Ali’s Blade will make an appearance in Moon Knight before starring in a feature film.
