Thus, you can’t exactly blame fans for feeling excited when news came out that Rockstar Games was going to release a GTA Remastered Trilogy bundle containing remastered versions of all three Grand Theft Auto games. Earlier reports suggested that GTA Remastered Trilogy was going to release in 2021. Now, one leaker claims that Rockstar might not release the compilation until 2022.
GTA Remastered Trilogy will release in 2022 - not 2021
A little over a week ago, we reported that Rockstar was working on a GTA Remastered Trilogy that’s set to release later this year. The news coincided with Take-Two’s earlier statement that it was going to release three remasters in 2022. Although both reports had conflicting release dates, many still believed that this was confirmation that GTA Remastered Trilogy is in the works. However, according to a reputable leaker, Tom Henderson, fans shouldn’t expect GTA Remastered Trilogy to release before 2022.
— Tom Henderson (@Tom_Henderson) August 18, 2021 As per the original report, Rockstar intended to release the GTA Remastered Trilogy alongside the next-gen version of GTA 5, which arrives in November this year However, recent intel suggests that plans have changed - we think that the COVID-19 pandemic might have had something to do with it. The international crisis has forced developers to delay and postpone several games to later dates this 2021 alone. With that said, we wouldn’t be surprised if Take-Two pushed back the unconfirmed trilogy bundle to 2022. This would give the developers more time to iron out whatever kinks might exist. Rockstar is known for its quality, after all. Of course, we recommend taking this information with a grain of salt. Henderson might be a reputable leaker, but he’s built his reputation on covering shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield. Even though he was one of the first to report that GTA 6 won’t release until 2025, it’s best to wait for official information before coming to any conclusions. But, if Henderson is right, then we suppose that a 2022 release won’t be half-bad. Since Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier already corroborated Henderson’s GTA 6 information, it’s going to be a long time before any of us ever get a chance to play GTA VI. If Rockstar confirms the rumored GTA Remastered Trilogy for a 2022 release date, it will at least give fans something to sink their teeth into. It’s a long wait for the sixth installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Just try not to get your hopes too high up. After all, without any official confirmation, the GTA Remastered Trilogy remains a high-profile rumor for now.
