The only problem with the latest GTA 6 leak though is that it lacks any real credibility whatsoever.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Leak Suggests Big Things Are Coming

Ever since Red Dead Redemption 2 released in 2018, all eyes have been on Rockstar Games to announce the sequel to Grand Theft Auto V. Just in case you’ve forgotten, it will shortly have been 8 years since GTA 5 released. So, you can’t exactly blame fans for jumping on every leak and rumor that pops up even if it lacks credence. A good example of such a GTA 6 leak is the one that recently claimed that the upcoming title will have a fully realized “Project America” open world that will let players travel to as many as six cities. According to the said leak, the new map will also include Los Santos, which is where both Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas take place. What’s perhaps the bigger revelation though, is that the leaker claims that Rockstar Games’ has already finished working on GTA 6, claiming that people should “get ready” for what appears to be an announcement soon. Coincidentally, this isn’t the first time that the term Project America has popped up in a Grand Theft Auto 6 leak. In particular, a similar leak started way back in 2019. The older leak claimed that GTA 6 will have more than one city and a female protagonist. Of course, we have no way of telling if the 2019 leak and the latest leak are both made by the same person nor if they are true. With that said, the best way to take this latest Grand Theft Auto 6 leak is with a heavy amount of salt and treat it as an early April Fools’ Day joke.

Is Grand Theft Auto 6 In The Works?

If we’re being honest, there’s really no incentive for Rockstar Games to release Grand Theft Auto 6 soon. The thing is, Grand Theft Auto 5 is still going strong nearly a decade later. It remains one of the most popular games today and Rockstar Games is preparing to re-launch the game for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. In addition to this, Rockstar Games is also busy working on Grand Theft Auto Online. Although initially panned by critics and gamers alike, Grand Theft Auto Online has since become a much bigger draw than the base game itself. So much so that Rockstar Games is already set to launch a standalone version of Grand Theft Auto Online soon. It also works towards Rockstar Games’ favor not to announce Grand Theft Auto 6 anytime soon, especially if it’s not finished yet. 2021 has seen its fair share of games delayed by a couple of weeks to indefinitely already. Not to mention, the current climate makes it so that anything less than a perfect game at launch will only serve to draw negative publicity. Even (former) media darlings, CD Projekt Red, couldn’t avoid drawing public ire. CDPR released Cyberpunk 2077 after nearly a decade of teases. However, six months later, they still have yet to fix many of the issues that the game launched with. This has perhaps forever tarnished their once-pristine reputation and will likely affect how investors perceive them. Ultimately, what we’re saying here is that releasing news of Grand Theft Auto 6 this early on will only put unnecessary pressure on the development team. It makes a lot more sense for Rockstar Games to put off any announcement. At least, until Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally ready to release.
