While we’ve got no reason to believe that this is going to be the case, Gillan’s recent tease on Instagram does hint at Nebula sporting a battle-damaged look at some point in the upcoming film. The former Doctor Who star’s latest picture honors the makeup team’s nth application and features her full Nebula face with scratches. It looks like Nebula’s seen better days, which lines up with Gunn’s previous statement. Of course, we won’t know for sure if Nebula will die or not in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 until the movie hits theaters a little over a year from now. Speaking of, Gillan is set to reprise her role as Nebula in at least two more MCU projects between then and now. Nebula, alongside the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy, is all set to make an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, which will premiere on July 8 and is currently undergoing reshoots. After this, Nebula will also make an appearance as Nebula for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special later this year on Disney+. All of this will make it difficult to theorize where Nebula and the rest of the ragtag crew are going to be by the time the story of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 kicks off. Unfortunately, regardless of what happens in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it will be the last time that audiences see the current lineup. Don’t worry, Gunn hasn’t closed the door on a fourth film, so even if the current team breaks up, there is always a chance that they’ll all come back and team up again. As for Gunn, the writer/director is busy juggling multiple DC projects at the moment. In addition to the second season of Peacemaker, Gunn confirmed that he’s in talks to do at least two more DC projects.
