That said, Rockstar’s silence hasn’t stopped leaks and rumors from popping up. If anything, it’s only added to it. Case in point, reliable industry insider, Tom Henderson, who is known for his Battlefield leaks, among others, recently discussed how he came across information concerning Grand Theft Auto 6. Even if Tom did later warn audiences that he wasn’t known for leaking GTA information, someone who is a credible GTA leaker has just gone on to confirm what Tom said.
Two Credible Leakers Are Better Than None
Just in case you’ve forgotten, Tom Henderson recently talked about Grand Theft Auto 6. In particular, he mentioned that GTA 6 won’t be set in a sprawling world as earlier leaks suggested. Instead, it will be set in modern-day Vice City. He also added that Rockstar Games will continuously expand on the game’s setting, making it larger with subsequent updates. Tom also shared that audiences shouldn’t expect GTA 6 to release anytime soon. In fact, he claims that GTA 6 probably won’t release until after 2025. Henderson explained that the reason for this is that Rockstar Games wants to take as much time with GTA 6 as possible. Lest we forget, Rockstar Games was the subject of much criticism after details about its crunch culture emerged during the lead-up to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018. Jason Schreier, formerly of Kotaku, took to Twitter to confirm everything that Tom just said. In a reply to a Twitter thread, Jason says, “Idk why everyone thinks that I said GTA VI was coming in 2023. Everything Tom Henderson has said about the game matches up with what I’ve heard.”
— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) July 4, 2021 Of course, this isn’t a confirmation. It just means that whatever Jason knows about GTA 6 is the same thing that Tom knows too. As the release of the standalone version of Grand Theft Auto Online and next-gen versions of GTA 5 inches closer, fans are obviously waiting on Rockstar Games to announce something big. Even if GTA 6 isn’t set to release until five years from now, we’re pretty sure audiences won’t mind. Case in point, The Elder Scrolls 6. The game was first officially revealed in 2018, and three years later Bethesda just came out to confirm that the game is still in its design phase. Because of this, fans shouldn’t expect the next TES game to release until after Bethesda has finished working on Starfield, which is set to release on November 11, 2022. Here’s to hoping that Rockstar takes a page out of Bethesda’s book and decides to announce GTA 6 soon even if it won’t release until 2025. In the meantime, you can keep yourself busy by playing these games.
