Take-Two announced that a sequel to the flight simulation game was to be developed under Intercept Games. The studio was created to develop Kerbal Space Progam 2 in 2020 and will be published by the Private Division. While Intercept Games was created for the Kerbal Space Program sequel, it will not be the only project that the studio is working on. Recent job listings on the Take-Two website hint that the studio is working on an unannounced science-based adventure game. The postings include a Senior Environment Artist, Producer, and Software Engineer. The Senior Environment Artist will be tasked with establishing “worldbuilding pipelines and build out environments for stylized science-based games.” The candidate must have a “passion for space exploration, rocketry, worldbuilding, and related entertainment media. " There will be bonus points if the candidate has “experience creating or working on fully spherical planets.” The Software Engineer post is looking for someone who has experience in developing games on desktop, Xbox, or PlayStation platforms. The Producer role will be in charge of the development of KSP2 and the new adventure game. There is not much information to go on at this point. We know that this new game will involve rockets and spherical planets. There should be a story to the game as it specifically said that the artist has to have a “passion for environmental storytelling.” For gamers who haven’t tried Kerbal Space Program yet, the game is a fun and addictive flight simulation game where the players create spaceships with to explore other planets and complete missions. Each flight earns Science points which can be used to research new parts for your rocketship. The game has been praised for its accurate orbital physics and the application of Newtonian dynamics. KSP2 will build on the original game by adding new propulsion systems and feature interstellar travel. Space agencies around the world have taken an interest in KSP including NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX. Kerbal Space Program 2 was originally slated to release in 2020. There were a series of delays and the game will launch in early 2023. Kerbal Space Program 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
