Windows Central reports (for the nth time) that a new Xbox presentation will air on January 25 that will include upcoming Xbox exclusives like Redfall, Forza Motorsport, and Minecraft Legends. However, the same report notes that the release date isn’t final yet and Starfield may or may not appear. Further details about the unannounced showcase describe it as similar to PlayStation’s State of Play with a “more intimate look at upcoming exclusives.” Perhaps, more importantly, the Developer Direct will be the start of several other similar-sized and regular updates from the Xbox team. Microsoft’s pursuit of Activision Blizzard made more headlines throughout all of last year if you compare it to its big releases. So, while the Xbox Series S/X might be catching up to the PlayStation 5 in terms of sales, it’s still a fairly good idea for Microsoft to invest in AAA titles that will come out on a yearly basis. Redfall and Starfield are just a start, especially if you compare the Xbox’s relatively barren exclusive lineup to the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 5. For what it’s worth, everything we’ve heard in recent weeks suggests Microsoft will bounce back big this year. The Game Awards’ most recent tweet confirms the stacked games lineup headed to Xbox consoles on or before June. Meanwhile, last year’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase showed off plenty of titles that are tentatively set to release in the first half of the current year. Finally, there was that report claiming Microsoft originally had bigger plans for last year. The tech giant might have just delayed the said games for this year.
