According to the trusted industry insider, Activision Blizzard will drop multiplayer footage of Modern Warfare 2 in September just weeks ahead of the official beta. Henderson points out that Activision Blizzard has a long history of multiplayer reveals in September. Specifically, Henderson points out that Black Ops Cold War held its multiplayer reveal on September 9, 2020, and Vanguard had its own reveal last September 7. In addition to historical precedence, the dates do also line up with the release date of Modern Warfare 2. The next Call of Duty game is set to come out on October 28 followed by Warzone 2 later this year. All things considered, Henderson’s leaked info isn’t too far off if you try and make an educated guess. Regardless of when the multiplayer reveal will take place, we’re hoping that we’ll get more details in the next few weeks. After a marketing surge in late May and early June, we expect Activision to ramp up its efforts once again as we wait for Modern Warfare 2’s beta to begin weeks before it hits store shelves. In the meantime, you can still try out Call of Duty: Vanguard for free. Today, July 26, is the last day of free play. But, judging by the last few months, Vanguard should still have at least one more free play week or weekend until Modern Warfare 2 is out.
