Final Fantasy XIV has been out for a while now and has many mounts, from the ordinary to the most eccentric. Today I will talk about some mounts that, despite the daily grind, are easy to acquire if you keep your head in the game, Beast Tribes mounts. Do you know how to get them? No? Well, you are in the right place because I’m going to teach you how to get all FFXIV Beast Tribes mounts.

What are Beast Tribes?

Beast Tribes is Final Fantasy XIV’s way of giving you daily quests to grind some experience. You perform quests for a tribe in the game, increasing your reputation with them, thus unlocking more items as your relationship grows. Items range from crafting materials to pets, furnishing, orchestrion rolls, and of course, mounts. You can complete a maximum of 12 quests per day. Beast Tribes are usually unlocked by completing side quests near their territory. The quests are straightforward, so I will stick to how and where to acquire them rather than their execution.

A Realm Reborn Beast Tribes Mount

You need to be at least level 41 to unlock ARR Beast Tribe quests. So, follow my instructions, and in no time, you will unlock all Beast Tribe quests. They vary from fetching items, killing enemies, destroying the whole family of the rival tribe, and the like. They randomly change every day but will start repeating as the grind extends. Usually, when you start doing quests riding a mount, it means you are close to unlocking it for yourself.

Kobolds

Quest: Highway Robbery (requires level 41) Location: Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:12 Y:12) NPC: Trachraet After concluding the quest, you can find the Kobold quest-givers in 789th Order Dig in Outer La Noscea (x21,y18). Help these synonyms-lovers to your heart content, and when you hit Trusted reputation, rank 4, they will sell you Bomb Palanquin Mount for 120,000 Gil.

Sylphs

Quest: Seeking Solace (requires level 42) Location: New Gridania (X:9, Y:11) NPC: Vorsaile Heuloix Same drill. Complete the quest above, and after that, you can find the Sylph quest-givers in Little Solace, East Shroud (x22,y26), and help them away. When you get to reputation rank 4, Trusted, they will sell you Laurel Gobbue for 120,000 Gil. A little curiosity: Gobbue is a legacy mount for FFXIV 1.0 players, as a reward them for their love - and low expectations of in-game quality. The laurel is to differentiate them.

Amalj’aa

Quest: Peace for Thanalan (requires level 43) Location: Ul’dah - Steps of Nald (X:8, Y:8) NPC: Swift Amalj’aa quest-givers can be found at Ring of Ash, Southern Thanalan (x23,y14). Oh, I hated their quests. But once you hit Trusted rank, they will sell Cavalry Drake mount, which is quite neat and has a unique visual skill. For the same bargain of 120,000 Gil. That is if you are rich like me.

Sahagin

Quest: They Came from the Deep (requires level 44) Location: Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:13 Y:12) NPC: R’ashaht Rhiki I feel like a broken record, but it’s my job to give precise directions. Sahagin quest-givers are at Novv’s Nursery in Western La Noscea (x17,y21). Kill, fetch, sleep, repeat. When they trust you, rank 4 reputation, they will sell Cavalry Elbst for the same amount as stated before.

Ixal

Quest: A Bad Bladder (technically requires level 1, but see prerequisites) Location: New Gridania (X:9 Y:11) NPC: Scarlet This one is a bit different, finally! Every expansion has at least one crafter/gatherer Beast Tribe; Ixal is the ARR correspondent. You will mainly craft items, so you need any crafting job unlocked and eager to build an airship. Also, you will receive specific coins called Ixali Oaknots as quest rewards that can be exchanged for crafting materials or dyes. You can spend them without worry. As your reputation increases, you may have some combat quests, but nothing you can’t handle at your current level. Unfortunately, the Ixal grind is higher than the others, even though you will gain more reputation with each quest. You will need to get rank 7, Allied reputation, to buy the Direwolf for 120,000 Gil.

Heavensward Beast Tribes Mount

As a reference of when to unlock them, let’s use Primals. After defeating a primal from a particular region, you can unlock their Beast Tribes. Bismarck for the Vanu Vanu and Ravana for the Vath. Moogles are the most annoying Beast Tribe to unlock in the dragon land, but I will give you the pointers on which quests to take.

Vanu Vanu

Quest: Three Beaks to the Wind (requires level 50) Location: Ok’ Zundu (X:11, Y:14) NPC: Sonu Vanu After completing the quest, you can find the Vanu Vanu quest-givers at Nakki Island in The Sea of Clouds (x6,y14). Their quests are as simple as ARR’s. Killing, retrieving items and scaring off cloud fishermen. I haven’t estimated whether the grind is faster or slower than ARR Beast Tribes, but you require a higher rank even though you earn more reputation. You need rank 7, Sworn, to be able to buy the Sanuwa mount for 200,000 Gil. Inflation increases with each expansion.

Vath

Quest: The Naming of Vath (requires level 50) Location: The Dravanian Forelands (X:24, Y:20) NPC: Vath Storyteller Do the quest and you shall find the Vath quest-givers at Loth ast Vath. Coordinates? (x24,y20), The Dravanian Forelands. Smite yours and Vath’s enemies daily, and your reputation will grow until they deem you worthy of passing the desired Kongamato mount. And you deserve it if you reached Sworn rank 7. But of course, for a generous trade of 200,000 Gil.

Moogle

Quest: Tricks and Stones (requires level 50 and a chain of quests) Location: The Churning Mists (X:27, Y:34) NPC: Seething Stonemason As mentioned, to unlock the Moogles quests, you need to do a chain of 19 quests until you reach Trick and Stones. To start, go to (x29,y35) near Moghome. At the top, talk to Mogleo for the quest A Pebble for Your Thoughts, complete it, and three more in sequence. Then, talk to Mogloo (x30,y36) and start Protecting the Pom, doing the quests sequentially as they are issued, totaling six. After completing the last one, Trouble at Zenith, teleport to Ishgard and talk to the Unflinching Temple Knight (x11 y10) in the Last Vigil aetheryte shard to start Into the Mists, beginning nine more quests. When you finish Laying the First Brick, you will unlock Tricks and Stones and, at its conclusion, the Moogles Daily Quests. They are simple, just time-consuming. Moogles are similar to Ixal in that you will have to do crafting quests instead of combat. By helping the Moogles rebuild Zenith, you will reach rank 7 Sworn and unlock the purchase of Cloud Mallow for 200,000 Gil.

Stormblood Beast Tribes Mount

Three more beast tribes mean three more mounts for your barn. Now in the Far East of the World of Hydaelyn, we have two combat-wise Beast Tribes and one of crafting/gathering chores. Do you remember the original currency we get from the tribes? Save some of them because the mounts here can only be purchased with them and not Gil.

Kojin

Quest: Heaven-sent (requires level 60) Location: Isari (X:6.8, Y:13.3) NPC: Vexed Villager After completing the MSQ Tide Goes In, Imperials Go Out, you will need to do the Heaven-sent quest to enable the Kojin Daily Quests. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ quests are, as usual, to kill someone, fetch something or ride a giant manta. After hitting Rank 8 Bloodsworn (they are getting picky), you can buy the Striped Ray for 12 Kojin Sango.

Ananta

Quest: Brooding Broodmother (requires level 60) Location: The Fringes (X:30.2, Y:25.7) NPC: M’rahz Nunh Ananta is one of those Beast Tribe types that demands the completion of a chain to unlock. In this case, there are two chains at different points in the MSQ and level requirements. After completing the main Divide and Conquer quest, take The Hidden Truth quest with Serpent Marshal Brookstone in The Fringes (X:9.2 Y:10.8) and proceed to finish four quests. You need to be level 61 to enable them. The second chain quest is only available after completing MSQ The Silence of the Gods and requires level 67. Start the A New Contender quest by talking to M’rahz Nunh at the coordinates above and finish them all. After this, he will offer you the Brooding Broodmother quest, which will unlock the quests of the Snake Tribe. Save 36 of their unique currency because good news, they sell two mounts! One at Sworn reputation, The Marid Horn for 18 Ananta Dreamstaff, and then another at Bloodsworn reputation, the True Griffin Horn.

Namazu

Quest: Something Fishy This Way Comes (requires level 60) Location: The Azim Steppe (X:17.4, Y:37.5) NPC: Floundering Namazu Here we go again, completing a plethora of quest chains. First, make sure you are past the MSQ In Crimson They Walked, which will allow you to take on Courage the Cowardly Lupin by talking to Fukudo at Yanxia (X:30.9, Y:17.8). Complete four quest chains to make Perchance to Hanami available and start it by talking to Ochimi in Yanxia (X:30.3, Y:18.3). Six quests later, you will then - finally - get to the last one called Kurobana vs. Gyorin. Talk to Kurobana at Yanxia (X:29.3, Y:17.5), complete it masterfully, and then you will be able to grab Something Fishy This Way Comes on the directions declared above. Namazu is the beast tribe of crafting. However, this time, gatherers can also complete quests. Just make sure you are in the desired Disciple of Hand/Land before accepting the quests. Help the little guys, attend festivals, and eventually, you will reach Rank 8, Bloodsworn, and buy the Mikoshi Flute for 20 Namazu Koban.

Shadowbringers Beast Tribes Mount

The last three ones, let’s go! These are the latest Beast Tribes released, which means I’ll have to update this guide when Endwalker is released.

Pixie

Quest: Manic Pixie Dream Realm (requires level 70) Location: The Crystarium (X:13.1, Y:15.2) NPC: Pink Pixie Pixie Daily Quests are available as soon as you end the Il Mheg main quests. For reference, the last MSQ is called The Wheel Turns. You will have six quests in total that are simple to complete and end at Forever and a Dream. After helping Tyr Beq with this last quest, you will unlock the Pixie Daily Quests. The advantage of doing the Shadowbringers Beast Tribe daily quests is that they synchronize with your current level. This means you get a good amount of experience. When you reach rank 7, Sworn, you can buy Portly Porxie Horn for 18 Fae Fancy, the pixies currency.

Qitari

Quest: The Stewards of Note (requires level 70) Location: The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:21.0, Y:27.6) NPC: Concerned Mother There are two different quest chains to complete before unlocking Qitari Daily Quests. First, make sure you’ve completed the MSQ Bearing With It, then search for Valan in The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:19.8, Y:27.6) and accept The Great Deceiver. This quest chain is pretty fun, have a blast. After that, search for the quest Stand on Ceremony from Lanille in The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:31.3, Y:16.9). If you are searching for Aether Currents, you will acquire them as rewards or may have already completed these quests. After completing both quest chains, their paths will cross and unlock Protectors of the Wood from Phyna in The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:30.7, Y:20.2). Finally, after finishing all of them, go talk to the Concerned Mother in the location above to start a quest, and after completing it, the Qitari Daily Quests will be yours to take. Qitari quests are only available for Disciple of the Land. That is, gatherers. They are pretty mild and gives you a ton of experience to level up your honest Worker of Light. After reaching Rank 7, Sworn reputation, you can acquire the Ronkan Flute for 18 Qitari Compliment.

Dwarf

Quest: The Stewards of Note (requires level 70) Location: The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:21.0, Y:27.6) NPC: Concerned Mother Dwarf Daily Quests is the last Beast Tribe released in the game. As you might have guessed, these are quests for Disciple of the Hand, that is, crafters. You need to complete two quest chains first. Village of Woe from Eueliss in Kholusia (X:15.3, Y:28.6) and A Disagreeable Dwarf from Beott in Kholusia (X:12.4, Y:9.2). Once all have been said and done, It’s Dwarfin’ Time will be available from Affable Townsdwarf in Kholusia (X:15.7, Y:30.3), and completing it will unlock the Shadowbringers’s crafters daily quests. Complete them daily, help dwarves build a tank, and at Sworn reputation, you will be able to buy Rolling Tankard, which you helped construct, for 18 Hammered Frogment. These are all the Beast Tribes mounts available in Final Fantasy XIV so far. If Endwalker keeps up, there will be three more Beast Tribes in the expansion - one of which has already been announced - and more mounts for traveling the world in a flying flaming horse or a winged piggy.
