Accordingly, Warner Bros. has dropped a second trailer for the upcoming Matrix sequel, one that’s more telling about the film’s potential plot.

What do we know of Matrix Resurrections so far?

The Matrix Resurrections has been in development for quite some time. Naturally, fans have had lingering questions about the new Matrix movie. For example, why did Keanu Reeves agree to reprise a role he hadn’t played in more than a decade? How did Neo and Trinity survive after the events of The Matrix Revolutions? Where is the original actor behind Morpheus? Most were expecting to find answers to most if not all these questions once the first trailer for The Matrix Resurrections dropped, but all that it did was create more problems. The latest installment in the iconic sci-fi action franchise will take place two decades following the events of the original trilogy. For some reason, Neo is up and alive inside the virtual world with his “persona” as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco intact. However, it’s not long before Reeves’ character reunites with Carrie-Anne Moss’ Trinity as the recasted Morpheus offers Neo a red pill so that he can “remember” everything again. It appears that the fourth Matrix film will bring back Neo as he will try and save humanity once again alongside Trinity. In addition to Reeves and Moss, The Matrix Resurrections will also bring back series veterans Jada Pinkett Smith, Daniel Bernhardt, and Lambert Wilson. Meanwhile, the film will welcome fresh faces such as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Jessica Henwick, and Neil Patrick Harris. Unlike the first trailer for Matrix Resurrections, the second one is much more revealing. At the same time, it does a great job of teasing fans to come up with even more questions while also setting up for a film that has the potential to do extremely well at the global box office. Perhaps the most interesting part about the trailer is how it helps explain why Trinity is back and alive again. There are shots of her enclosed inside an isolated life pod, which are similar to the shots of Neo inside the same life pods. Hopefully, The Matrix Resurrections ends up living up to expectations. As the first installment in what many had already believed to be a finished trilogy, the success of The Matrix Resurrections could pave the way for another trilogy over the next few years.
