With two successful seasons in tow and a handful of Emmy nominations, it’s safe to say that fans are starved for any update on Season 3 of The Boys. Thankfully, the series showrunner, Eric Kripke, was more than happy to indulge fans.
When is The Boys Season 3 premiere date?
In an interview with The Wrap, Kripke shared his sentiments about the difficulties that everyone involved in the show has experienced during filming. He refers to it as a “real shot in the arm”, explaining that COVID has made filming “the hardest production year” for all of them, especially him. To lighten up the mood, the showrunner also talked about how the series’ cast reacted to the Emmy nominations. He says that they were filming the third season in Canada when everyone heard of the exciting news. He says, “everyone was just so excited”. He felt like it gave “everyone some validation as they’re limping into the final stretch.” He also described the experience of reuniting with Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles as “awesome” and that it “feels like coming home.” For those that don’t know, Kripke is the creator of the fantasy drama series, Supernatural. He went on to serve as the series’ showrunner for the first five seasons before moving on to a consultancy role in later seasons. He then spent the next couple of years working on Revolution, Timeless, and eventually, The Boys. On the other hand, Jensen Ackles starred as one of Supernatural’s main characters. Now, he’s set to join The Boys as Soldier Boy, who is described as the “original superhero” and is very much like Captain America. Unfortunately, for all the talks about Season 3 of The Boys, Kripke did not mention a premiere date.
What’s next for The Boys?
With a third season in the works and a spin-off already ordered, The Boys is going to be around for a long time. This is especially after Season 2 received five Emmy nominations: Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series, Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or Movie, and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for the Season 2 finale. In addition to the Emmy nominations, The Boys Season 2 also received four HCA TV Awards nominations: Best Streaming Series, Drama, Best Actor (Karl Urban as Billy Butcher), Best Actress (Aya Cash as Stormfront), and Best Supporting Actor in a Streaming Series, Drama (Giancarlo Esposito as Stan Edgar). With so much going for it, we wouldn’t be surprised if The Boys ends up getting a video game adaptation.
