Although Denis Villeneuve did an excellent job of adapting the first half of the original novel’s story, it became hard to deny the obvious. Still, this didn’t stop Dune: Part One from setting a new HBO Max record and nearly topping the list of nominees at the 94th Academy Awards. A little over half a year after Dune: Part One premiered in theaters and on HBO Max, Warner Bros. just confirmed that Part Two has started filming. Here’s the official synopsis of Dune: Part Two: Denis Villeneuve is returning to direct the sequel, which Warner Bros. has delayed from its original release date to November 17. As we’ve already mentioned, the two-part Dune movies are based on a sci-fi novel written by Frank Herbert. The plan is to adopt more of the Dune novels, of which there are at least eight. The first part followed the source material closely and we can expect the sequel to do the same. But, for Warner Bros. to green light more Dune movies, Denis Villeneuve will have to prove that his works are worth investing millions of dollars and years of work on. Speaking of Warner Bros., the studio is set to release more films from the DCEU in the next few months. First up is Black Adam, which comes out on October 21.
