For the Trauma Pack DLC though, which is included with the Collector’s, Deluxe, and Complete versions of Resident Evil Village, there is some interesting artwork included. In particular, these reveal Capcom’s initial plans to include a fan-favorite character in Resident Evil Village.
Is Ada Wong in Resident Evil Village?
Ada Wong is a popular character in the Resident Evil franchise. The unnamed female spy first appeared in Resident Evil 2. Since then, she has been prominently featured if not alluded to in subsequent games. However, following the events of Resident Evil 6, fans haven’t seen much nor heard of Ada Wong, with Capcom not mentioning the mysterious character. As it turns out, fans would have received an “update” to her whereabouts in Resident Evil Village had the initial plans pushed through. According to the artwork gallery included in the Trauma Pack DLC, The Tragedy of Ethan Winters Artwork, there is a set of concept designs showing what Ada Wong would have looked like in Resident Evil Village. Instead of wearing her iconic red dress, her planned appearance in Resident Evil Village would have mirrored that of a gothic plague doctor. As explained by the caption on the concept art, “Early plans had a mysterious masked person that saves Ethan. This was going to be Ada Wong investigating the village, but this was cut due to several conflicting scenarios.” Further evidence shows a storyboard depicting how Ada would have saved Ethan Winters in Resident Evil Village while in disguise. Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing now how this would have all turned out. Capcom ultimately decided to cut Ada Wong’s appearance in Resident Evil Village. Although it’s understandable anyway. After all, Resident Evil Village’s story is already too much as it is, with five villains in the game. Still, we can’t help but feel sad about not seeing Ada Wong in Resident Evil Village. Here’s to hoping that Capcom decides to make use of Ada Wong’s potential design in future Resident Evil games and/or expansions.
What’s Next for Resident Evil Village?
Resident Evil Village was only just released and has received stellar reviews so far. Many are satisfied with how it handled Ethan Winters’ story and supposedly concluded Winters’ time as the series protagonist. However, Capcom hasn’t confirmed if they are going to release an expansion for Resident Evil Village like they did for Resident Evil Biohazard.
