Nintendo has always added new features to its remakes. This is what Nintendo has done since it released FireRed and LeafGreen in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance. For example, FireRed and LeafGreen let players choose whether to play as a boy or a girl. In addition to this, Pokémon in FireRed and LeafGreen had natures, abilities, genders, and could even hold items. The first-gen remakes also added Pokémon that didn’t existed in the 90s when Nintendo first released Red, Blue, and Yellow. These are just a few of the several updates that were added to FireRed and LeafGreen. So, because it’s been nearly two decades since Nintendo released Diamond and Pearl in 2006, fans can expect the same level of quality from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Unfortunately, a recent report suggests that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl might only feature up to fourth-gen Pokémon. The report comes from the video game website, Nintendo Smash, which took a screenshot of a statement allegedly from Nintendo France. A rough translation to English suggests that the game will have Pokémon “up to the 4th Generation”. This would mean that players won’t be able to catch, battle, and even see Pokémon from the fifth and later generations, which would be disappointing. Of course, you’ll want to take this information with a grain of salt. It appears that only Nintendo France has shared the alleged statement. Not to mention, you can’t find the same statement anymore on Nintendo France’s various social media accounts. For now, all fans can do is wait and see just how many generations of Pokémon will appear on Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on November 19. In other news, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl represent a huge risk for Nintendo. These two will serve as the first mainline Pokémon games that Game Freak will not develop. Instead, ILCA will take the lead on this one with Game Freak providing oversight. Meanwhile, the longtime Pokémon developers are working on an arguably even bigger risk for Nintendo with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a 3D open-world Pokémon classified as an action RPG title.
