The last Metal Gear Solid game that included the involvement of Hideo Kojima was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in 2015. As much as Kojima and Konami would like to deny it, it was an incomplete project that could have surpassed all expectations. The likelihood of Konami ever visiting Metal Gear Solid without Kojima following the failed attempt in 2018 is nil, but, at the very least, gamers still had a chance to enjoy some of the older games. This was the case until last year when Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 were delisted. Fast forward to today and Konami wants fans to know that it is doing something about the issue. Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 were removed from the market last year after Konami’s licence to use certain news footage in cutscenes expired. At the time, Konami explained that this was a temporary issue. The company still hasn’t confirmed when both games are coming back, but at least we now know that it is doing something about the problem. Here’s what Konami said in a translated tweet: Konami didn’t mention if it had already renewed the license for the troubled clips or if it will remove them completely from the game. Either way, we’re hoping both Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 will make their way back on digital storefronts again. The launch of the new PS Plus is the perfect platform to reintroduce Metal Gear Solid to modern gamers. If nothing else, the arrival of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty as well as Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will solidify the PS Plus’ gaming library. Speaking of the PS Plus, subscribers are eating well this month. Sony recently added Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and others for Essential tier subscribers. Meanwhile, those with active PS Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe subscriptions will welcome a slew of Assassin’s Creed games and Stray, as well as many more, on the 19th.
