Hiram Garcia confirms that Black Adam spinoffs are in development

Johnson has lobbied for a Black Adam movie since 2007. However, it wasn’t until 2019’s Shazam! that the superpowered magical anti-hero was mentioned within the DCEU. While Black Adam will see the titular character make his feature film debut, it’s also going to be a star-studded affair, both in terms of real-life actors and the superheroes that they’ll bring to life. In addition to Johnson’s Black Adam, the film is also going to see Aldis Hodge portray Hawkman, with Piece Brosnan taking on the role of Doctor Fate. Other artists and confirmed roles in Black Adam include Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi as Isis. Because the Justice Society of America will appear in Black Adam, most fans have been wondering if the DCEU is going to use the film as the start of a JSA standalone film. Now, it appears that this is indeed the case. According to Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia, Black Adam spinoff movies are in development already. Garcia revealed in a Collider interview that there are talks between Warner Bros. and DC, as well as other interested parties, to see what kind of stories they will bring to life going forward. He also added that the DCEU will make announcements regarding Black Adam spin-offs soon. If this is true, we don’t think that the Black Adam spin-offs will arrive until 2023. 2022 is a busy year for the DCEU. Outside of Black Adam, The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as well as Batgirl, are all expected to premiere in 2022. Meanwhile, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to premiere in 2023 with Blue Beetle, Hourman, Zatanna, and Static all in the works as well. One spin-off that fans are hoping for is a crossover film between Black Adam and Shazam, which would effectively serve as the third film in the Shazam! series. Others also think that the canceled Hawkman film from 2010 is also among the films in consideration. Regardless of what films are announced, we can only hope that they won’t suffer the same fate as the first few DCEU movies. Speaking of crossovers, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just talked about his desire to make a DC-Marvel cinematic crossover film happen.
