Now that the series is turning 25 years old, Activision decided to celebrate by releasing a new game compilation, the CRASHiversary bundle.

What is the CRASHiversary bundle?

The CRASHivery bundle is part of Activision’s celebration of Crash turning 25 years old. Here is a complete list of all the games included in the CRASHivery bundle:

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

This is a total of five games under one bundle. We say five because Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a compilation of the first three Crash Bandicoot games released by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation. The remastered bundle was released back in 2017 and includes Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped, all of which have been remastered with added content for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. After the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was released, which was another remaster of a classic Crash title, 1999’s Crash Team Racing. So, technically, the only new game included in the CRASHiversary bundle is 2020’s Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, which is a direct follow-up to Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Activision released the CRASHivery bundle on July 21 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

What’s next for the Crash Bandicoot series?

Similar to the Ratchet & Clank series, the Crash Bandicoot series got a brand new lease on life when remastered versions were released in 2017 and 2019, respectively. This led to a sequel in It’s About Time, which could potentially lead to more games down the line. However, unlike the Ratchet & Clank games, which are technically owned by Insomniac Games (and, by extension, Sony), Activision owns the Crash IP. This means that Activision can decide if it’s going to develop and/or publish a new Crash game. At the moment, Toys for Bob, the developers of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, is on Call of Duty, well, duty. Although Activision did later clarify that the studio remains committed to supporting It’s About Time and the Crash series, in general, the lower sales number of It’s About Time compared to N. Sane Trilogy is concerning. TLDR; don’t expect to see Crash Bandicoot 5 or a sequel to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled anytime soon.
