According to CDPR, the next Witcher game, Project Polaris, is going to be a “story-driven open-world RPG built on the legacy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.” But, that’s not all. It will be the start of an entirely new trilogy that will launch within a six-year period. Don’t get confused. The six-year period starts only after Project Polaris comes out. Since we only got confirmation of the game earlier this year with promises of no crunch, it will be a while before it is ready to be released. In the meantime, we’re hoping that CDPR is kind enough to grace us with more info outside of the potential school of Witcher that the protagonist will come from. Fans still aren’t sure if the next lead will come from the School of the Cat or School of the Lynx. Either way, Witcher fans should celebrate as three games are better than one. Besides, fans can look forward to other “spin-offs” as well. In addition to Project Polaris and both of its sequels, Canis Majoris and Sirius are also in the works over at Molasses Flood, a new studio acquired by CD Projekt RED. From what we know, Canis Majoris will be more akin to the initial Witcher trilogy as it’s described as a “full-fledged Witcher game”. On the other hand, Sirius will feature “multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience including a campaign with quests and a story.” Unfortunately, this is all the info we have on the said projects. At the very least, we know that the next set of Witcher games will at least be connected to the events of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But, we won’t rule out the possibility that they’ll be prequels or even be set in the far future or in a parallel universe. Keep in mind that Geralt of Rivia isn’t everything. Remember, by the time that we meet him in the first The Witcher game, there were few of his kind left. The series has a vast history that it can still explore. In the meantime, fans can keep themselves busy with the prequel series, Blood Origin. The spin-off is scheduled to come out in December.
