Tales of Arise was released in 2021 across multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and has garnered massive success. And as expected, the fans awaited either a DLC or a sequel to the game. Fortunately, fans of the series might not have to wait for long as a recent development in the ‘Tales of’ realm suggests a new sequel or a DLC might be in the works. Bandai Namco recently filed a trademark for “Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn” in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). According to the details of the trademark, the company filed for it on December 7, 2022. The trademark also falls under the Class 9 and 41 classifications. Class 9 represents the ‘Goods,’ and 41 represents ‘Services.’ The classification here further gives evidence that it is related to video games. The filed trademark status shows that it is under examination, which means we might not hear any news about this supposedly new ‘Tales of’ game for quite some time. Yusuke Tomizawa, the producer of the game, went on record last year to confirm that there won’t be any post-launch content for the game and that it is a standalone experience, with no plans for either prequel or a sequel. The comments by the producer above make this trademark confusing for many and lead to many other assumptions. One of the many is that maybe the game is a port for other platforms, such as Nintendo, or perhaps an enhanced version of the same in a new Unreal Engine 5.1 that has been rapidly taking over the gaming industry. In any case, it seems that a new ‘Tales of’ game is under development, and it will be quite a while before we get something official.
