Skydance New Media confirmed the newest in-development Star Wars game in a recent press release, saying that it is working in “collaboration with Lucasfilm Games to develop and produce a richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story in the legendary Star Wars galaxy.” Hennig has served as the president of the Skydance Media gaming offshoot since forming it in 2018. Hennig is best known for her work on the Legacy of Kain, Jak and Daxter, as well as Uncharted. Hennig most recently lent her creative mind to Square Enix for Forspoken, an upcoming fantasy-based action RPG that’s set to come out later this year following an unfortunate delay. Hennig’s Star Wars game will serve as her second project since leaving EA in 2018. Hennig is also working with Disney on a AAA Marvel game. Neither has a release window. LucasFilm Games, and by extension Disney, are not fans of waiting. After Electronic Arts lost its exclusive rights to Star Wars games last year, several studios have taken this opportunity to work on their own Star Wars ventures. In addition to Skydance Media, Ubisoft, Respawn Entertainment, Aspyr Media, and Quantic Dream are all working on blockbuster Star Wars games as well. Judging by the enduring popularity of Star Wars on Disney+, it wouldn’t surprise us any longer if another studio threw its hat into the ring.
