A good example of this is the Scandinavian website, Gamereactor. In the summer of 2020, Gamereactor posted several leaks about upcoming games. Back then, most people had very little reason to believe what they were saying. Fast forward to today and the majority of their leaks came true. In fact, Gamereactor leaked Housemarque’s Returnal, Avalanche Software’s Hogwarts: Legacy, as well as the setting of Resident Evil Village, the Demon’s Soul Remake, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition. As a matter of fact, the only thing that hasn’t come been confirmed yet from Gamereactor’s list of “secret games” is a Silent Hill reboot. With such a high success rate, it’s only safe to say that Gamereactor’s credibility is solid, which is why we’re inclined to believe yet another set of leaks regarding new and upcoming games.
Is There Any Truth Behind Gamereactor’s Leaks?
After successfully leaking Returnal and the likes, Gamereactor is at it again. This time around, Gamereactor is bringing into light games that have both been teased already in the past few months and games that we’re hearing about for the first time. At the top of the list are Alan Wake 2 and The Last of Us Remake. The latter has been subject to much controversy since news about it broke out in early April. Meanwhile, the former is all but confirmed at this point. This follows Remedy Entertainment stating in March that they were working on five titles at the moment, two of which will be part of the Remedy Connected Universe, with Epic Games stepping in to fund and publish the said games. This also isn’t the first time that we’re hearing about the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel. Earlier this year, a Senior Producer at Respawn Entertainment hinted that the studio was working on a Star Wars game. On the other hand, the Knights of the Old Republic remake has been the talk of the proverbial town for months if not years. Although, it was only until recently that a studio, Aspyr Media, was attached to the rumors.
Will We Hear About These games Soon?
With that said, most of the games that Gamereactor’s mentioned and leaked are not entirely new. However, given that Gamereactor seems to have insider information, the possibility of the aforementioned projects releasing and being announced just increased. The one supposedly secret game that hasn’t really been talked about much is Borderlands. Gamereactor claims that the upcoming Borderlands game won’t be a numbered title. Instead, the site says that the next Borderlands game will be a “spin-off” and “something different”. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for these games to be confirmed or debunked. June seems to be a good time to announce these games if they are indeed in development. E3 2021 will be held by then followed by Steam Next Fest. Not to mention, we are expecting Square Enix and PlayStation, among others, to hold their next online games showcase soon.
