For example, reports are suggesting that Warner Bros. is planning for Supergirl to take on the mantle, both figuratively and literally, and have a more prominent role in the DCEU.
Is Supergirl’s HBO Max TV show confirmed?
Ezra Miller’s first solo outing as the DCEU’s resident speedster, The Flash, isn’t due until November 4, 2022. However, we already know plenty of details about the upcoming DCEU film due to several leaks in the past. For example, we know that both Ben Affleck’s Batman and Michael Keaton’s Batman are going to make an appearance if not be featured prominently. According to That Hashtag Show, Warner Bros. also wants to release a Supergirl film that would have premiered exclusively on HBO Max. That Hashtag Show elaborates that plans changed while the film was in development as the writers suggested a shift to a TV series format. This way, the show would have had more time to tell the story of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. The site added that the series would focus on Supergirl’s life as she trained and developed her powers while acting as a prequel to the Ezra Miller-led DCEU film. In addition to this, there are also claims that Michael’s Keaton, among others, will appear in the TV series. Of course, this is all unconfirmed information. It’s up to you to believe it or not. But, given that there are several Superman films in development right now, a Supergirl series on HBO Max is not far-fetched. It appears that Warner Bros. is looking for that next cornerstone as Cavill becomes less available in future DCEU films. Hopefully, the executives over at Warner Bros. decide to start taking more risks. The Black Adam movie and the Peacemaker TV series are both good examples of what the DCEU should consider doing going forward. In the meantime, DC Comics’ fans can look forward to the Injustice animated movie.
