The new footage will be the first that fans will be seeing of Stranger Things season 4 since the teaser last year and it’s definitely worth the wait. For those who need a refresher on what happened heading into the penultimate season of Stranger Things, season 3 saw the Upside Down’s return to Hawkins. Audiences found out that the city’s Starcourt Mall hid a covert Russian military base researching the supernatural. By the time the season had ended, David Harbour’s Jim Hopper appeared to have sacrificed himself to save the world. However, as it turns out, Hopper ended up in a Russian prison camp instead. In the meantime, an Upside Down denizen possessed the Mayfield siblings, Max and Billy, with the gang ultimately succeeding in the end. By season 3’s end, the Byers, along with Eleven, had relocated to a new town, setting up for the fourth season that will likely tell a story set in multiple places. Speaking of Stranger Things, the showrunners of the sci-fi horror drama series, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, confirmed earlier this year that they are going to end things with the show’s fifth season. If it’s any consolation, the final season of Stranger Things won’t arrive until at least 2023. Judging by their recent release strategy, Netflix will probably release season 5 of Stranger Things in two halves with more episodes than before. Finally, while the main Stranger Things series is ending soon, the Duffer brothers did tease that spin-offs could be on their way. The duo states in their “farewell” letter that “there are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysterious, new adventures, new unexpected heroes.”
