With that said, Tom Holland’s future in the MCU might not be as straightforward as No Way Home producer, Amy Pascal, would have you believe.

Pascal “confirms” that Holland is coming back as Spider-Man

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is universally loved. Even though most millennials would have you believe that Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man was the best (and he probably was), Holland’s time as everybody’s friendly neighborhood webhead has led to much success for Sony and the MCU. Holland himself has also gained worldwide fame because of his portrayal of the iconic superhero. He’s since parlayed it into starring roles in the upcoming Uncharted live-action adaptation with his on-screen best friend revealing that the actor wants to play James Bond as well. Given the success of Holland’s Spider-Man, it’s only fair for fans to wonder if he’s going to come back and do more in the future. According to Amy Pascal in an interview with Fandango, No Way Home “is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel,” referring to Sony and Disney’s partnership to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. She also added that Sony and Disney are already “getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland” before saying that No Way Home is “not the last of our MCU movies.” Interestingly enough, Pascal’s statement comes just days after Holland said in a GQ interview that he’d have to have “done something wrong” if he was still going to play Spider-Man after he’s already 30. The good news is that Holland is still 25 years old.

What’s next for Holland’s Spider-Man?

With 5 years still left to go before he turns 30, Holland has a few more movies left under his proverbial belt as the popular web-slinger if he intends to pass on the mantle to someone else by then. However, THR reports that their insider sources have confirmed that there are no plans for another Spider-Man trilogy in the MCU just yet. Marvel and Sony’s relationship remains tenuous at best. After Marvel finally secured the Spider-Man movie rights for Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, the two reached an impasse again in 2019 that appeared to spell the end for Holland’s time in the MCU. Thankfully, the two giants managed to sort things out, which eventually led to the creation of No Way Home and future appearances of Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. But, with conflicting reports about a new Spider-Man trilogy in the works, it’s difficult to separate what’s confirmed from what’s not. If it’s any consolation, Holland has the backing of one of the Russo brothers as the “heart and soul of the MCU.”
