Simply put, this newish tech syncs the refresh of the display with that of the PC or console, resulting in smoother gameplay. Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t made the feature available on the PS5 yet even though Xbox and PC gamers have enjoyed it for years. Thankfully, Sony is fixing this glaring issue with an upcoming update for the PlayStation 5. As per its earlier promise, Sony is adding VRR support for the PS5 for a handful of titles starting later this year. Unfortunately, the recent blog post only lists 14 titles, which is a far cry from Microsoft’s comprehensive implementation. Most if not all games support VRR on the Xbox as long as they can go over 30 frames per second. Here is a complete list of all games that will support VRR in a few days’ time:

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Astro’s Playroom Call of Duty: Vanguard Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Deathloop Destiny 2 Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition DIRT 5 Godfall Resident Evil Village Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

Surprisingly enough, popular titles like Elden Ring and Fortnite aren’t included in the list. But, don’t worry. As Sony rolls out the update in the coming days, we can expect developers to follow suit as well. If you’re curious about VRR support, Sony is enabling it by default but it will only work on compatible displays with an HDMI 2.1 port. Speaking of Sony, April was a big month for the console manufacturer. The company might not have released a new big title, but there are rumors that Sony is acquiring a studio that’s far larger than Kojima Productions. Meanwhile, Sony also spent a billion investing in Epic Games’ metaverse. Finally, Sony revealed that the new PS Plus will arrive ahead of time in select markets such as Asia and Japan.
